There are 15 homes on Carter Road. (I’m not sure if that includes the brand new 5,000 sq. ft. house that one of the litigants is building). Eight of the 15 are not involved in the lawsuit against Cabot Oil & Gas. Three homes have accepted, and are using water treatment systems successfully.
Hmmmm… It makes you wonder where this “litigant” got the money from to build this 5000 sq ft home…. Oh yeah! Royalties from CABOT! The same company they are suing…. Things that make you go “hmmmmm..”
Is there any way to take some scenic pictures of Carter Road? I would love to see the area and how modern housing (building) in rural Pennsylvania is going.
don’t assume too much; This man’s wife is a dentist in Montrose and his father died about two or three years ago and he inherited some of the property there in Dimock.
Who’s assuming???
So that only leaves 4 homes in the whole area?
Why aren’t they using water systems if it is free
to them from Cabot – and proven to work for others?
Question:
I am wondering why anyone would build a 5,000 sq, ft. mansion
on “Carter Road” if the water is contaminated?
Good question. Doesn’t make sense, does it. Only the family that’s building knows the true answer to that.
they are building their new home, because he were assured by the DEP that a water pipeline from Montrose was coming and they needed a home after their home was damaged by a tree falling on it. And they have three children .
I’m sorry, but you are wrong – the home is 7,000 SF according to this: http://www.gosanangelo.com/photos/2011/apr/16/45724/
This is the same person who claimed his water had unsafe levels of five substances, including lithium which can have adverse effects on kidneys and thyroid. This is the same person who said he would never feel safe drinking his water again. Now this is the same person who is building a house of which he could previously only dream on the same land where he says his water is contaminated.
think nicely of your neighbors. You don’t know all that they are going through and need to do for their families and what has happened to them. Support your neighbors over the gas companies that come here primarily for profit and not primarily for our health and safety.
Why doesn’t Cabot shut down the wells of the people that have a lawsuit aganist them? Didn’t Cabot and State of PA try to make them whole again and the Carter Road folks turned them down. Sounds like they don’t want anything except a huge settlement.
What is taking the EPA so long to test the water?
1) Cabot did shut down (plug) 3 of the wells that are in the Carter Road area, due to the litigants’ claims of contaminated water. As a result, 2 of the litigants are not collecting on any gas wells any more. The rest of them are collecting on anywhere from 1 to 7 gas wells per household.
2) THIS IS A QUOTE “..attorneys for the families submitted arguments to the state Commonwealth Court’s Environmental Hearing Board saying the state wrongly ignored the harm that could come from drinking water contaminated with metals, solvents and manufactured chemicals found in levels above state and federal standards. Cabot and the state Department of Environmental Protection also submitted arguments Wednesday. They say the board does not have the authority to force the driller to continue deliveries of drinking water and cannot order the DEP to take enforcement action. On Friday, the board ordered that water deliveries will resume for any of the 11 families who are “willing to at least try a whole-house gas mitigation device paid for by Cabot and installed by plumbers hired by Cabot.” Cabot also will pay each of the families between $50,000 and nearly $400,000 “with no strings attached and no questions asked,” according to the hearing board’s order. The payments will take place immediately, the order said.”
3) The EPA, unfortunately can take it’s sweet time coming up with the final test results. Water was taken from most of the 61 homes’ water wells in Dimock, simultaneously, by 3 people – (1) an independent company hired by Cabot Oil & Gas, (2) the State DEP and (3) the Federal EPA. (Several litigants will not permit Cabot or it’s representatives on their land.) The Dimock landowners I’ve spoken to let me know that Cabot already gave them the test results. The landowners have not gotten anything from the PA DEP or the Federal EPA yet.
Can anyone supply the names of the wells shut down on Carter Road?
According to the Consent Order and Agreement dated the 4th day of November 2009, by and between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection and Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation, it would be (1) the Gesford 3 Well, (2) the Gesford 9 Well, and (3) the Teel 5 Well.
CORRECTION: Just found out that there were several revisions to the Consent Order and Agreement. The final revision, dated July 19, 2010, shows that the plugged wells are: (1) the Gesford 3 Well, (2) the Gesford 9 Well, and (3) the Baker 1 Well.
The next time these litigants are at one of their rallies, and the truth came out that they are collecting royalities from gas wells that used the same process (hydro-fracturing) they are fighting against.
What will their audience think then?
J&D
are you saying these people are collecting money from the same process that they are Running around telling the world they are against?
Does that mean royalites are being paid to them from the gas companys,is that right?
Yes, that’s right.
When did this 5000 sq.ft Home begin to be built on Carter Rd? Before the questioned water problems or after? Dates?? Is it still being built or on hold?
Sounds like some folks are collecting royalites in one hand and suing in the other. At what point does ETHICS come in to play? How about INTEGRITY?
In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of ones actions.
Apparently if this is the case, some folks have no soundness of MORAL CHARACTER.

Announcements were placed all over town to visit our wonderful new website dimockproud.com and the one at the LOCAL BANK was mysteriously MISSING! Makes you go hmmmmm…….
I hope you have lots of them to put up
I just love this website,!!
I’ve been telling all my friends about it.
they can’t believe the information on here ,
May I suggest that flyers be available at our next meeting for us to take and post, with permission of course, in and around town…. For each “missing” flyer, we’ll put up 2! We will not be defeated! We ARE DimockProud and the truth will prevail!!! We do not live in some kind of wasteland… Our town us beautiful, with the exception of the few “anti’s” who continue to trash our beautiful town! Let’s let the Country know the truth!!!! Eventually we will come across someone in the news media who wants to report the FACTS, not the drama!
Since I can’t be at the meeting will someone ask then following question………. Why doesn’t Cabot shut down the wells of the people that have a lawsuit aganist them? Does Cabot have to wait until the lease is up for renewal and then not renew? As it stands now, it appears that Cabot is feeding the hand that is suing them. The gall of some people,

The flyers are already printed and ready for the meeting. So glad for the support and enthusiasm! We are Dimock Proud and so excited to be part of this get the truth out there campaign. Thanks Carter Rd. litigants you have lit a fire somewhere other than your faucet!!!!
Question……. There was a report a while back about an elderly man who testified that he used to visit a family on Carter Road years ago and the water was bad at that time. The man went to get a glass of water and was told not to drink water from the faucet as it would kill him and to get water from the fridge. Any truth to this story?? What was this testimony for? Is anyone familar with this story?
YES I know the man you are talking about, it is true.He has told quite a few people including myself about the water. He had been working outside ,went to the house,.they sat at the table talking .,as he got a glass and went to the sink he was told ” that water is bad don’t drink it !”,.we keep our water in the frig, this happened many years ago .He recalls that and other things about the water back then..He will tell you the water has always been bad in that area
Stormy will you please ask the man if he would take the time and tell his story? I’m sure many people would like to hear it. Maybe he could give a few details.
Thanks
He has told his story already to the people we would want to hear it
.I’m sure it is being saved for futher use.
However he had said he would come to our last meeting, but it was changed
I’ll remind him as to the next one. I’m sure he would talk to our group
Dimock well water NOT A HEALTH CONCERN! What a surprise!
Dimock Rocks!
Is this the 3rd time now ?
1st cabot tested
2nd DEP tested
3rd EPA tested
and what did they find? you got it …
THE WATER IS CLEAN !!! AND DIMOCK IS PROUD !!!
As mentioned earlier, Dimock Road people deserve clean water and I am so happy they have it. Now they can move on knowing their water is safe and enjoy life. Put this behind you Carter Road folks!!! Enjoy your clean water! DIMOCK IS PROUD!!!!!
Dimock is Proud
BUT THESE PEOPLE ARE STILL NOT HAPPY
I can’t believe how unhappy these litigants are
because their water tests came back clean
do you believe it’s water they are worried about
or are there other motives out there?
This is odd…the same thing is happening in my neck of the woods…Franklin Forks – same pattern of events. Odd how an out of state lawyer will not allow potable water deliveries to one of the 3 families. What constitutes bad water to these people? It may have “had an odor” or “have a funny taste” and “has existed prior to gas drilling”….So, if the water was like this before – why did they continue to live there, why would they not pay to have some sort of filtration system before this, why did they not have a water test done to make sure they were not going to be disfigured or get a disease? Okay, they could not afford it – I am guessing – Now someone offers to pay for it, and they don’t want it done? What are they afraid of? Now after testing many times – it is not harmful to drink. I am so curious to find out from this landowner who is building a new home (even if it is a modest one at that), why? If the situation is as bad as they say, why would they want to stay and not build somewhere else?
the NY lawyer for the Mannings in Franklin Forks did not allow WPX to take apart the water well for inspection. He wants to have certified people he calls to check out the well. Lawyer Dubanevich did not ask to stop water deliveries. This is a misunderstanding. You can call the lawyer yourself and ask him. The affected water is still under investigation. High methane and metals were found and more test results need to come back and be evaluated. So, in the meantime, clean water is being delivered. They had no complaints about the water before. WPX is quoting other people, not the three families who now have fizzing, methane water and changed color to grey. Talk to your neighbors who have the water buffaloes now and venting stacks. Hear their story, not what WPX, the gas company, who wants to make big profits off our backs while they impact our environment and our health.
You say “think kindly” of your neighbors, Vera? What about you being kind to yours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roGXXQA5k9Q&list=UUfbfGPFJn5t3HvJcRNTvJxQ&index=16&feature=plcp. You didn’t like the results of Williams inspection of the Manning’s well, so you verbally attacked and harassed Williams’ employees! You and your group of anti-drill supporters often rudely attack anyone associated with or in favor of the gas industry being in our area. You post videos on YouTube of you trespassing on drilling sites, putting yourself and others at risk. I remember in one, you were told to please leave the site because you didn’t know enough to know when you could be in danger.
You are in the minority of people who dislike the industry being in our area and one of the reasons Dimock’s name is smeared – now you are trying to do it to another town!
I know one of the families and their water wasn’t brown sludge until Cabot. They didn’t run their well dry to turn it brown. As for accepting your royalties when having a lawsuit against the company, you would have to be absolutely stupid not to accept them especially since they ruined your water.
you’re right , PG; the royalties are way down by now; not much to deal with ; Look on the DEP site for Production reports on the wells in Dimock; see how they’ve come down , way down, since 2008. and the price of gas has crashed.
Naturally occurring??? I don’t think so.
