Comment: I came upon your website sort of accidentally, by way of research…and I’m glad that I did. I’m a student who lives in Los Angeles, and I’m writing a research paper for my Environmental Christian Ethics class on fracking. I’m currently reading Seamus McGraw’s book, though I doubt I will have it completed before my report is due. I knew very little about fracking, but in my research I’ve discovered that there seems to be an overwhelmingly negative response to it. Fracking is the latest cause celebre. Even my professor (originally from Texas) speaks of it as if it is a personal affront to mankind and the environment. Although I’m still somewhat confused as to whether it’s harmful, if nothing else I can see that there really is two sides to every story. After reading through the stories and blogs on your website – from RESIDENTS, I can understand your anger and frustration. I just wanted to say “thank you” for putting your side out there. I’m going to use some of the information from your site (don’t worry, I will cite it!) in my paper. Hopefully, my professor won’t grade me down because of her personal convictions. This website is something that EVERYONE needs to see…

I’m surprised to see there is a class called “Environmental Christian Ethics”. How would that be different from say, Environmental Jewish or Muslim or Hindu Ethics? The environment does not have a religion attached to it that i can tell.
COMMENT FROM Sally :
Comment: My great grandfather “Poppy”Lipp was a butcher in Hancock,NY for many years–he was also Mayor for a number of years. He told the tales of going to Dimock,to make deliveries. The story involved his prowness with a whip (horse & buggy days) to kill snakes before they scared the horse!! The big treat was watching his clients light their water!! and everyone would laugh.!
My great grandfather died at the age of 96, having outlived all of his children. I believe it was in the early 60′s. He still loved to tell the tales of the “fire water . Keep telling the truth!!
I think that this site is a good tool to pass along to everyone, not only the oil and gas industry. I live in TN and there isn’t much activity here, 5-10wells drilled state wide per month, but there the issue of fracing has been brought up. I am constantly looking for new tools to pass along. I work on the landowner side of oil and gas so I try to look at things objectfully, with an open mind. I watched Gasland and also Truthland. I have talked to local people here in TN to get there thoughts on O&G, many people in Morgan, Fentress and Scott County us gas from wells with high btu, which according to industry is to high to use, the indaviduals have had no issues and they have used gas from the wells for 30+ yrs. Here in TN there isn’t much infrastructor so alot of gas wells go to landowners.
I have heard a few stories around these parts about burning water, some places where no gas wells are drilled.
I would like to thank you for this site, I have passed it on to several people.
